Joy is a small word carrying the big gift of our soul’s delight.  Some days it rests between the last time we were happy and the gratitude of today. However, during a letdown or a loss, it may feel like joy settles beneath a shadow of what went wrong or what went away.

But joy is like sunshine in the soul. It rises where it is welcome.  And yet, in some seasons of life, we may need someone to walk alongside us as we seek to reclaim our joy (or discover it for the first time).

  • We might yearn for a comeback story, the kind that allows failure to be forgotten.
  • Other times, we long for a success story where hard work pays off or a wise choice instantly elevates our status.
  • We may be waiting for a love story or the story of something miraculous, as healing comes to our mind, body or soul.

These are great stories. But in the midst of the redemption Christ offers, He also set His joy before us. Joy awaited Him as He completed His mission of saving our souls and returned to heaven as Savior and Lord. My joy story became possible when I learned to draw strength from His.

In the midst of all the other stories weaving into my life, I choose to live my joy story today.

Sometimes it forms as a wonderful event takes me by surprise. Other parts of my story form as I encounter something difficult and learn to delight in knowing God on a deeper level. I invite you to join me as we journey together on this blog.

  1. I learned a long time ago that joy does not friend on my circumstances. It depends on my focus on Jesus! I’ve been through several life circumstances that have challenged my joy and focus. But through each circumstance over learned that when i focus on Jesus, my joy is complete and those challenges become small.
