Sudden loss is heartbreaking. It’s not always due to death. Loss of time, a dream or a loss of control brings its own sense of grief or frustration.

These losses became the conversation between my friend and me. She wondered if an opportunity would loop through her life again or if the window for its fulfillment was completely closed.

With permission, I share her dilemma. She isn’t ready to disclose the details. Her story is still unfolding.

As we talked, tears of regret blended with our prayers seeking answers. I told her I’ve been there too — indulging in second guessing and pleading with God for a redo. However, His providence surprises.

Redo or not, He offers His peace and a path forward.

For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. – Isaiah 43:19 NLT

Is there a loss you’re laying before Him today? Maybe you’re not ready to let go of what could have been. Maybe, like my friend, you’re unsure if it will be again.

Our stories are still unfolding. Inviting us to experience the wonder of God’s love.

Displaying hidden glory as we yield. Trust. Obey.

As something new unfolds, we’ll be glad we trusted. Because no matter what I lose, I don’t want to lose sight of God.

  1. “Our stories are still unfolding.” That is such a helpful reminder to hold onto in times of loss. Even though they can be devastating they are not the final word. God can still take the brokenness and do something new. Visiting from the Recharge Wednesday linkup.
