Sidetracked or Sincere?
Happy New Year! It’s the annual announcement of a fresh start. But as we say hello to 2018, previous years may still have a few things to say. Hence, the New Year offers a new timeframe to tackle the unresolved. It’s the opportunity to make this year the year. Our...

Sidetracked or Sincere?
Falling in love can be easy. With adrenaline pumping and dreams forming, we are well on our way to “I do.”  But if we discover the person or passion we’re pursuing is not what we thought they would be, we are well on our way to being duped. This lesson...

Avoiding the Comparison Trap

Affirmation,  Sidetracked or Sincere?
In a world of many options, it’s hard to resist making comparisons. Seeking similarities or determining superiority seems endless. In most cases, my analysis is fairly harmless: comparing pasta to rice, one route to another, or capris to a skirt. However, sometimes my mental match-ups completely fail. This is often...

Sidetracked or Sincere?
Tortilla crusted fish is good — really good. I love the taste of the tortilla crumbs coating my tilapia or trout. The restaurant version is best. But I’ve also tried the grocery store variety. You could say tortilla crusted fish is my latest craving. Chances are you have your favorite...

Affirmation,  Sidetracked or Sincere?
This tweet from a Charlotte, NC news anchor grabbed my attention. Christina Watkin’s honesty about her resolve and her faith is unmistakable. Her statement is a simple yet, classic example of how faith and resolve go hand in hand. See if you agree. That painful moment when you give up...

Sidetracked or Sincere?
This week’s post also appears on neitherheightnordepth.com, where I am a guest writer on Jelise Ballon’s blog. Thanks Jelise! As Ryan left out the front door he said, “Mom, I’ll be right back.” I smiled as my son did his routine chore of taking the trash to the curb. But...

Sidetracked or Sincere?
I was eight years old when I learned about jaywalking. Even before I knew what it was, the name made me curious. Was it walking in the formation of the letter J? Was it walking someone’s dog named Jay? My third grade mind thought of many things, until I was...

When I shop, boho jewelry and anything denim have When I shop, boho jewelry and anything denim have a magnetic pull on my purse strings. But about a year ago, something different drew me in. A mug with its soft edges and soft ecru color featured 3 words. Pray. Wait. Trust.

As it pulled on my heart strings, the magnet worked. I quickly placed the mug in my cart and made my way to the cashier. I looked forward to drinking from the cup and considering each word — one sip at a time. But a closer look took me beyond my cup. These 3 words made me reflect on the life of Christ.

Reflections of His life and how it impacts ours is often the focus during this Lenten season. But we can reap the benefits of reflecting on Jesus any day of the year.

Join me on the blog this week and discover what can happen: "Growing Our Faith One Sip at a Time" (an invitation from me and my mug). 💕

When we lean into God's calling, we still have to When we lean into God's calling, we still have to learn His way to live in the privilege of what He calls us to do.

It's great when we connect with people who seek to do the same. It happened at the "God's Call, God's Way Prayer Breakfast" yesterday!

I'm grateful for an awesome time of prayer, fellowship, and reflection. We were tremendously blessed by praise and worship led by @deborahmooremusic.

Thanks so much to those who attended and for those who prayed for our gathering!🙏🏽💕 #joytothesoul #liveyourjoystory
