The Fruit of The Spirit in Christmas
The holidays may lead to many days of me putting too much pressure on myself. Did I select the best gift for someone? Is my meal preparation chef worthy (and I’m not even a trained chef)? And yet, the first Christmas, “self” may have been an issue too. I imagine...

The Fruit of The Spirit in Christmas
What if God gave you a big task — as in change the world kind of big? Who would you tell? What would you say? Is there something special you’d want to wear? Mary, the mother of Jesus, knew the fragile balance between being pregnant with God’s Promise without becoming...

The Fruit of The Spirit in Christmas
Before Joseph became Christ’s earthly father, his faith went from a state of flux to faithful. Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy...

The Fruit of The Spirit in Christmas
The best part of anything is its goodness. Sometimes we see it in other people. Hopefully, we desire it in our hearts. But we can always trust goodness is in the heart of God. Even as Christ was born, we see it in subtle and significant ways. As Mary and...

The Fruit of The Spirit in Christmas
During my husband’s time in the Marine Corps, we arrived at a new duty station weeks before Christmas. A family invited us over for holiday dinner. I don’t recall the menu. However, their generosity stays with me. Being in their home made me feel like kindness was a natural part...

The Fruit of The Spirit in Christmas
I don’t mind waiting, if I’m not in a hurry. But if a delay causes distress, I look for a workaround for what’s slowing things down. However, patience is at work in me when I’m willing to wait for what God has for me. As I put His timetable over...

The Fruit of The Spirit in Christmas
At Christmas time or anytime, life can be demanding. Schedules fill our days, thoughts fill our minds and depending on the circumstances, anxiety may fill our hearts. But following the announcement of Christ’s birth, an angelic chorus offered us perspective. “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace...

Live Your Joy Story,  The Fruit of The Spirit in Christmas
The first time I heard the word “joy,” my parents were calling my name. It took several years for me to understand its true meaning — until I realized “joy” was given to me. The first Christmas, a group of shepherds had the same realization. And the angel said to...

As the year draws to a close, I’m reflecting on my As the year draws to a close, I’m reflecting on my one-word. Alignment. But aligning with God’s will is a lifelong process of following Christ’s teachings by putting His will above my own. After all, alignment involves making adjustments so that something functions optimally within its intended design.

Surprisingly, my one word was both an invitation and an illumination. In my last post on the blog this year, I'm sharing lessons learned and the inspiration I found by God's grace. I pray you'll find encouragement in "5 Ways to End (or begin) the Year with Joy!" (Link in profile)

Is there something you’re counting on this Christm Is there something you’re counting on this Christmas?

Maybe you’re hoping for some time off work.

Perhaps you have travel plans or guests are traveling to spend time with you.

Some people are hoping to have a simple celebration.

And yet, others are busy preparing for festivities that no one will forget.

But for the Christ child’s parents, Mary and Joseph, what may have felt like a complication was really God’s invitation for them to experience His plan. (Luke 2:1-7)

Hence, the Advent season is more than a countdown to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Because He came, God no longer counts our sins against us as we receive Christ’s salvation. (2 Corinthians 5:19-21) There’s something to be sure of. But the Advent also points us to remember Jesus is coming again. (Matthew 24:23-31) This Christmas, may we each experience Him in the ways we need Him the most. #Advent #Christmas #christmastime🎄 #liveyourjoystory #joytothesoul
This crystal cross hangs near the top of our famil This crystal cross hangs near the top of our family Christmas tree. It’s a reminder of the reason for the Christ child’s birth. Redemption.

But as much as I love Christmas, I also remain amazed at how there’s so little I can be certain of from year to year. Between our news feeds, and the ups and downs of our hopes and dreams, it may be tempting to keep our expectations low. But the reason for the season is also the reason for great certainty.

It's the latest topic on the blog, because there is something we can be sure of this #Christmas!🎄 #joytothesoul #liveyourjoystory (Link in profile)
