The best part of anything is its goodness. Sometimes we see it in other people. Hopefully, we desire it in our hearts.
But we can always trust goodness is in the heart of God. Even as Christ was born, we see it in subtle and significant ways.
As Mary and Joseph sat attentively at the manger, shepherds left their flocks to come and see the baby Jesus.
Wise men traveled from the east and brought Him gifts.
The unique echo of Christ’s essence filled the air. He is the Good Shepherd. He is the way we receive God’s indescribable gift. (John 10:10-12 and 2 Corinthians 9:12-15)
And yet, sometimes life doesn’t feel good. However, even in the midst of our struggles, as we believe in God’s goodness, the echo of His glory fills our hearts too.
When I hear it, His benevolence makes me better.
I say to the Lord , “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.” (Psalms 16:2 ESV)
Imagine if the shepherds stayed in the fields, after they heard the Good News. Their story would be far from glorious. (Luke 2:8-17)
Imagine if the wise men’s focus was on their status instead of the Star. They never would have reached the blessed stable. (Matthew 2:1-12)
Goodness flows from our lives as we yield to the Holy Spirit’s desires.
He wants us to hear, see and share the wonder of God’s love.
As we accept His invitation, virtue forms in our character and believing in His goodness creates our best story.
