At Christmas time or anytime, life can be demanding. Schedules fill our days, thoughts fill our minds and depending on the circumstances, anxiety may fill our hearts.
But following the announcement of Christ’s birth, an angelic chorus offered us perspective.
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” (Luke 2:14 ESV)
How do you find peace? Sipping on a warm beverage, staring at a picturesque view or saying a prayer might make the list.
However, God’s peace creates calm within us – even if there is chaos around us. Even if everything else on our list goes unchecked, there’s one box that shouldn’t go unnoticed – pleasing God. (Hebrews 11:6)
He’s not some self-serving deity untouched by our pain. He is the Source of all that is good, right and true. As we obediently respond to who He is, we receive the wonder of what He does in us and around us.
Because of Christ, peace is always within my reach; even if it surpasses my understanding.
Every time there’s a scheduling glitch, fearful thought or an undesirable outcome, I have a choice. I can wrestle with anxiety until I’m exhausted – or I can lay down my anxieties before God. (Philippians 4:6-7)
The night Christ was born the Prince of Peace arrived. As I rest in His power to rule over all things, it gives me His peace in everything.
