Sidetracked or Sincere?
Happy New Year! It’s the annual announcement of a fresh start. But as we say hello to 2018, previous years may still have a few things to say. Hence, the New Year offers a new timeframe to tackle the unresolved. It’s the opportunity to make this year the year. Our...

Affirmation
Welcome to our last week of the “Looking at a Stable Situation” series. This journey of personal reflection is appropriate all year-long, but especially at Christmas. For the Scriptures clearly state that the Messiah will be born of the royal line of David, in Bethlehem, the village where King David...

The Light of Christmas Series
My weekly news feed contains the frantically familiar. Another celebrity or politician sits in the hot seat of moral failure. Another world leader seeks to bully the rest of the world. Another heartbroken family struggles to rebuild their lives without a loved one. It’s a tragic version of here we...

“Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him.” King Herod...

A Season of Waiting,  In Difficult Times
From the moment our warmth in the womb is disrupted to our last glimpse of this globe, we desire stability. At least, I do. Because life can tumble towards the unexpected. Most of my days are couched in routine, but unpredictability is in the air. The wonder of the 24-hour...

Prayer Life
My Thanksgiving plans are different this year. My brother’s recent surgery and other family members’ schedules placed our usual gathering on pause until Christmas. We’ve adjusted to our new plan and we’re still counting our blessings. I’ll prepare a meal for the few who will gather at my home. But...

Growing A Friendship Series,  Lessons I've Learned (so far) Series,  Relationships
I cherish the friendships I’ve had through the years. However, some connections seem to fade over time. Other relationships deepen as we share life experiences because sharing is key to a friendship’s growth. You may be familiar with the saying “something is alive if it grows, breathes and eats.” It’s...

As we adjust to life’s challenges, change can qu As we adjust to life’s challenges, change can quickly bring us to new and necessary conclusions. But before the summer ends (and as fall begins), is there something we need to surrender to God?

In part 2 of this year's "Joy to the Soul Summer" series, I'm sharing a book review on Surrendering Certainty, Hearing God Today by Letting Go of Tomorrow by @abbymcdonaldwriter.

Navigating relationships and hardships may mean I need more patience. Cultivating dreams or linking purpose to plans may require me to have more courage. Any of these things can easily fill our minds. But how easily do we hand them over to God?

Thankfully, Abby reminds us, "Jesus is not a Shepherd who leaves the pasture and expects us to have all the answers. He is the shepherd who stays, who guides us, and intercedes for us. He never stops."

Although His grace is a tremendous gift, how we view ourselves or others can complicate how we receive and share His grace.

On this audio teaching, my story of childhood trauma provided me with some insight into what it feels like to be gripped by something other than grace. Link in profile!

EXCITING NEWS!!! A few years ago, I, along with o EXCITING NEWS!!! A few years ago, I, along with other writers on @proverbs31ministries' @first5app, wrote a Bible teaching entitled "Praying Through the Psalms."

God moved powerfully through that experience, and many women were drawn to prayer and what the practice could look like in their lives.

As a result, Thomas Nelson has published the accompanying study guide to include the First 5 teachings. I'm honored to be a part of this collaboration, and the updated version is officially here!
