7 Ways to Focus on the Joy of Christmas,  Guest Writers
It wasn’t even mid-October, and there it was displayed among the homes with pumpkins and other fall-themed decorations. A nativity scene beautifully adorned the yard of a house we pass every morning. Now I’ll admit, I chuckled and thought to myself, “They decorated a little early for Christmas.” However, my...

Affirmation,  Uncategorized
The life of Peter intrigues me. The fisherman’s journey to becoming a faithful Christ follower took a series of unexpected turns. From his first encounter with Jesus, life took on new meaning. After Peter fished for years, Jesus told him He’d make him a fisher of people. (Matthew 4:18-20) Peter...

All Things New
TWAS THE YEAR 2020, A YEAR OF GREAT VISION, when the world was exposed to coronavirus transmission. Shaming and blaming became the quick fix. But such solutions proved the virus could not be tricked. Shutdowns followed and masks were adorned. The economy tanked, just like economists warned. The shutdowns lifted...

Affirmation,  In Difficult Times
From where I stood in January, this Thanksgiving looked like the same gatherings and same parades I enjoyed in previous years. But a pandemic appeared in February and changed our cherished interactions. Now social distancing, mask wearing, and constant hand washing intrude upon our gatherings or give us reasons not...

Seeing A Different Kind of Summer Differently

Joy to The Soul Summer
My teenage son’s garden adorns our backyard. And by adorn, I mean large leaves stretch across formerly flattened sod. But this is an improbable garden. Without the pandemic slowing things down, it’s likely my son’s energy would be spent elsewhere. And yet, even with his new focus, Ryan forgot to...

Being present enables us to sense the moments God has for us, so we won’t miss the moments we need.

As the year draws to a close, I’m reflecting on my As the year draws to a close, I’m reflecting on my one-word. Alignment. But aligning with God’s will is a lifelong process of following Christ’s teachings by putting His will above my own. After all, alignment involves making adjustments so that something functions optimally within its intended design.

Surprisingly, my one word was both an invitation and an illumination. In my last post on the blog this year, I'm sharing lessons learned and the inspiration I found by God's grace. I pray you'll find encouragement in "5 Ways to End (or begin) the Year with Joy!" (Link in profile)
