Hope for the Heart Series,  In Difficult Times
Sometimes, it’s hard to make sense of what it means to walk by faith. The last few weeks definitely put my understanding to the test. As I served as an alternate juror for a trial, the details of the case stunned me. The crime took place in rooms where Scriptures...

Prayer Life,  Relationships
On a special Sunday in May, many countries celebrate moms. I miss mine. Her legacy lingers long in the lives of her children, grandchildren and beyond. She taught me to sit up straight and stand up to bullies. Through her example, I learned to walk with dignity and a sense...

A Season of Waiting
Years ago, when my husband was in the active-duty military, we lived in southern California. One of the benefits of living in the area was the pleasantly predictable weather. Sunshine and balmy breezes greeted us daily. When clouds interrupted the sun’s greeting, I watched as tree branches bowed down to bossy...

Live Your Joy Story,  The Gratitude Series
As Thanksgiving Day approaches, it’s common to check for an attitude of gratitude. It’s an uplifting mindset. But it’s not always an easy emotion. We may be thankful for some aspects of our lives and feel conflicted about other areas. But the bible says, “Be thankful in all circumstances, for...

Connecting God's Word to Your Well-Being,  Live Your Joy Story
“When the Lord brought back his exiles to Jerusalem, it was like a dream! We were filled with laughter, and we sang for joy. And the other nations said, “What amazing things the Lord has done for them” (Psalms 126:1‭-‬2 NLT).‬‬ Psalm 126 celebrates the Israelites release from Babylonian captivity....

Connecting God's Word to Your Well-Being
Years ago, what started out as my routine surgery became time spent in the critical care unit (CCU). Due to complications, I required a blood transfusion. As clots formed against the transfused blood, my body rejected the solution. If my condition didn’t improve, I’d need another surgery. This was not the...

As the year draws to a close, I’m reflecting on my As the year draws to a close, I’m reflecting on my one-word. Alignment. But aligning with God’s will is a lifelong process of following Christ’s teachings by putting His will above my own. After all, alignment involves making adjustments so that something functions optimally within its intended design.

Surprisingly, my one word was both an invitation and an illumination. In my last post on the blog this year, I'm sharing lessons learned and the inspiration I found by God's grace. I pray you'll find encouragement in "5 Ways to End (or begin) the Year with Joy!" (Link in profile)

Is there something you’re counting on this Christm Is there something you’re counting on this Christmas?

Maybe you’re hoping for some time off work.

Perhaps you have travel plans or guests are traveling to spend time with you.

Some people are hoping to have a simple celebration.

And yet, others are busy preparing for festivities that no one will forget.

But for the Christ child’s parents, Mary and Joseph, what may have felt like a complication was really God’s invitation for them to experience His plan. (Luke 2:1-7)

Hence, the Advent season is more than a countdown to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Because He came, God no longer counts our sins against us as we receive Christ’s salvation. (2 Corinthians 5:19-21) There’s something to be sure of. But the Advent also points us to remember Jesus is coming again. (Matthew 24:23-31) This Christmas, may we each experience Him in the ways we need Him the most. #Advent #Christmas #christmastime🎄 #liveyourjoystory #joytothesoul
This crystal cross hangs near the top of our famil This crystal cross hangs near the top of our family Christmas tree. It’s a reminder of the reason for the Christ child’s birth. Redemption.

But as much as I love Christmas, I also remain amazed at how there’s so little I can be certain of from year to year. Between our news feeds, and the ups and downs of our hopes and dreams, it may be tempting to keep our expectations low. But the reason for the season is also the reason for great certainty.

It's the latest topic on the blog, because there is something we can be sure of this #Christmas!🎄 #joytothesoul #liveyourjoystory (Link in profile)
