Hope for the Heart Series,  Live Your Joy Story,  Relationships
I remember my first love letter.  Every word from “Dear Joy” to “Love Always” took hold of my teenage heart. Years later, the writer told me his hands shook with each stroke of the pen.  He was traveling out of the country with his high school band. But he left...

Although I write about joy to the soul, I realize no one plans to be sad. And yet, the loss of who or what we love creates heartache and lingering questions in ways we never planned. In her new book, Can You Just Sit with Me?: Healthy Grieving for the...

On a special Sunday in May, many countries celebrate moms. I miss mine. Her legacy lingers long in the lives of her children, grandchildren and beyond. She taught me to sit up straight and stand up to bullies. Through her example, I learned to walk with dignity and a sense...

It’s been a tough few weeks in our nation. Are you okay? I ask because I care. I ask because I’m not. The recent killings of three unarmed African Americans, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and George Floyd, widened America’s racial divide. Each tragedy built momentum for a nationwide response. The video...

As we adjust to life’s challenges, change can qu As we adjust to life’s challenges, change can quickly bring us to new and necessary conclusions. But before the summer ends (and as fall begins), is there something we need to surrender to God?

In part 2 of this year's "Joy to the Soul Summer" series, I'm sharing a book review on Surrendering Certainty, Hearing God Today by Letting Go of Tomorrow by @abbymcdonaldwriter.

Navigating relationships and hardships may mean I need more patience. Cultivating dreams or linking purpose to plans may require me to have more courage. Any of these things can easily fill our minds. But how easily do we hand them over to God?

Thankfully, Abby reminds us, "Jesus is not a Shepherd who leaves the pasture and expects us to have all the answers. He is the shepherd who stays, who guides us, and intercedes for us. He never stops."

Although His grace is a tremendous gift, how we view ourselves or others can complicate how we receive and share His grace.

On this audio teaching, my story of childhood trauma provided me with some insight into what it feels like to be gripped by something other than grace. Link in profile!

EXCITING NEWS!!! A few years ago, I, along with o EXCITING NEWS!!! A few years ago, I, along with other writers on @proverbs31ministries' @first5app, wrote a Bible teaching entitled "Praying Through the Psalms."

God moved powerfully through that experience, and many women were drawn to prayer and what the practice could look like in their lives.

As a result, Thomas Nelson has published the accompanying study guide to include the First 5 teachings. I'm honored to be a part of this collaboration, and the updated version is officially here!
