Growing A Friendship Series,  Prayer Life
Trust between two people is a treasured gift. Throw in a commitment to grow in Christ through prayer and you may have the makings of a prayer partnership. My first attempt many years ago fell flat. Neither my college roommate nor I felt comfortable praying out loud. Unfortunately, we didn’t...

Live Your Joy Story
The thunder sounded like a mountain rolled on our front lawn. A zap zipped through the wall and electronic after electronic died a sudden death.  On August 6 at 5:46 p.m., our TV, cable box, our Wi-Fi and my son’s Xbox were no more. Lightning fried anything plugged into the...

Joy to The Soul Summer
Every season has a unique vibe. Now it’s summer’s turn. Travel trends are at their peak. Something sleeveless with something denim is my biggest fashion statement. Hot days call me like an old friend, insisting I relax and sip lemonade. The beach is my favorite place to dwell. And yet,...

I’m saddened by the recent deaths of Kate Spade, Anthony Bourdain and a host of precious, but less famous, souls who took their own lives. Their reasons lie in silence or perhaps in the last words in a note left to their loved ones. But I do know their struggle....

As the year draws to a close, I’m reflecting on my As the year draws to a close, I’m reflecting on my one-word. Alignment. But aligning with God’s will is a lifelong process of following Christ’s teachings by putting His will above my own. After all, alignment involves making adjustments so that something functions optimally within its intended design.

Surprisingly, my one word was both an invitation and an illumination. In my last post on the blog this year, I'm sharing lessons learned and the inspiration I found by God's grace. I pray you'll find encouragement in "5 Ways to End (or begin) the Year with Joy!" (Link in profile)

Is there something you’re counting on this Christm Is there something you’re counting on this Christmas?

Maybe you’re hoping for some time off work.

Perhaps you have travel plans or guests are traveling to spend time with you.

Some people are hoping to have a simple celebration.

And yet, others are busy preparing for festivities that no one will forget.

But for the Christ child’s parents, Mary and Joseph, what may have felt like a complication was really God’s invitation for them to experience His plan. (Luke 2:1-7)

Hence, the Advent season is more than a countdown to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Because He came, God no longer counts our sins against us as we receive Christ’s salvation. (2 Corinthians 5:19-21) There’s something to be sure of. But the Advent also points us to remember Jesus is coming again. (Matthew 24:23-31) This Christmas, may we each experience Him in the ways we need Him the most. #Advent #Christmas #christmastime🎄 #liveyourjoystory #joytothesoul

But as much as I love Christmas, I also remain amazed at how there’s so little I can be certain of from year to year. Between our news feeds, and the ups and downs of our hopes and dreams, it may be tempting to keep our expectations low. But the reason for the season is also the reason for great certainty.

It's the latest topic on the blog, because there is something we can be sure of this #Christmas!🎄 #joytothesoul #liveyourjoystory (Link in profile)
