Hello December! I’m glad you’re here. You’re the last month of 2020. The next few weeks are dubbed the most wonderful time of the year. I’m praying we’ll see that side of you. You have 31 glorious days to show it. Please end on a good note. For. Us. All. Most of us could use a break.

What if divisive political rhetoric became productive communication?

Imagine if the search for a safe COVID-19 vaccine turned into a well-dispensed reality?

Add in relief from any other causes of stress and this month could mark the breakthrough many of us have been praying for. I can almost picture it now. And yet, although “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” is the title of a song, the wonder of this season is not dependent on the calendar. It is completely due to the Savior.

For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.(Isaiah 9:6 NLT)

Ultimately, the power to rule rests on Christ’s shoulders. Our pandemic and personal concerns are in the care of our wonderful, mighty, everlasting, peace-giving God. It has me singing another tune: ” Joy to the World.”

With all the experiences this year that have broken our hearts, changed our schedules or challenged our faith, “Joy to the World” still matters. Maybe this year, it matters even more. I’m sharing a few reasons why on The Empowered Women Faith Club’s blog.  I’d love for you to join me there for “Why Joy to the World Still Matters.”

Sharing is caring !
  1. Joy, thanks for this sunny message in wintry December. Thanks for recalling Isaiah’s prophetic message about the arrival of the Christ child. Jesus remains The Hope and The Joy for our world! Love you!

    1. Hi Gail! Like you, I’m grateful for “sunny messages in wintry December!” Love you too!

  2. I appreciate your note of optimism here, Joy. We all need it! So thankful that we still can find joy in Christ, even when it seems lacking in other spaces. 😉

    1. Amen Lisa! I praise God for the many ways He He encourages our hearts!

  3. It is good that we have witnesses who paved the way before us and, of course, our Jesus who has left a pattern for us on how to live with anticipation of better days to come. “…Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God…”

    1. Yes, keeping our eyes on Jesus keeps us encouraged. With Him, there are always better days to come!
