Lessons I've Learned (so far) Series
I’m a tea-lover with a cabinet full of flavored teas and fancy cups to prove it. I enjoy it iced or hot. But I’m partial to a hot cup swirling a spiced aroma through my kitchen. It doesn’t matter if I’m drinking from a cup that’s fancy or familiar. I...

Affirmation,  Lessons I've Learned (so far) Series
In John 8, the woman caught in adultery, often catches my attention. Her story highlights circumstances when human nature is not at its best. With her moral failure on public display, she lost her privacy and her dignity the moment she was exposed. Her accusers rushed to condemn her. It...

Affirmation,  Lessons I've Learned (so far) Series
A commercial offering DNA research promises to reveal the roots of family trees. Clients look delighted. They smile next to a pie chart showing the content of their unique ethnicity.  It’s a growing trend. But what if the pie chart represented life experiences instead. Lessons I've Learned (so far) Series,  Relationships
When was the last time someone hurt your feelings or made you mad? Sooner or later, we’re all on someone’s list. Our human nature guarantees it. We’re each a work in progress. And in the process, we can be less than sincere and more than someone else can handle. But...

Lessons I've Learned (so far) Series
Sudden loss is heartbreaking. It’s not always due to death. Loss of time, a dream or a loss of control brings its own sense of grief or frustration. These losses became the conversation between my friend and me. She wondered if an opportunity would loop through her life again or...

Living In The Grip of Grace

Lessons I've Learned (so far) Series
Looking at my to-do list, I see an unsettling sight. Unchecked boxes show the deficits in my daily grind. I forgot to do something. Again. I’m behind schedule on this or on that. If I struggle with work-life balance, it creates a confusing grace-works balance. But being defined by my...

Being present enables us to sense the moments God has for us, so we won’t miss the moments we need.

Prayer: Lord, help me to sense Your Presence, settle into Your will, and seize the moment You're showing me. In Jesus' name, amen!

As the year draws to a close, I’m reflecting on my As the year draws to a close, I’m reflecting on my one-word. Alignment. But aligning with God’s will is a lifelong process of following Christ’s teachings by putting His will above my own. After all, alignment involves making adjustments so that something functions optimally within its intended design.

Surprisingly, my one word was both an invitation and an illumination. In my last post on the blog this year, I'm sharing lessons learned and the inspiration I found by God's grace. I pray you'll find encouragement in "5 Ways to End (or begin) the Year with Joy!" (Link in profile)
